DUTIES OF POSITION: Teach courses related to design and development of on-line instruction, culture and technology, research in educational technology, instructional design, professional development with educational technology, distance learning, supervising and evaluating teaching with technology. May teach in a proposed option in the master's degree in education with a specialization in on-line teaching, supervise research projects for graduate students in Educational Technology and support school-wide faculty development efforts in technology. Related duties include curriculum and program development, grants development, research and scholarly activities, and student advisement. Teaching assignments at California State University, Hayward include courses at both the Hayward and Contra Costa campuses. RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor, tenure-track position. Hiring classification and salary are dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Subject to budgetary authorization. DATE OF APPOINTMENT: Position to begin Fall, 2000. QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate in educational technology, educational computing or related field; exceptional candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered. Expertise in one or more the following: design, development and applications of Web as a collaborative tool, instructional multimedia, use of technology for instruction K-12, instructional uses of the WWW and other Internet technologies, K-12 instructional technology planning, instructional design, curriculum planning, problem-based learning, distance learning, research in educational technology, effects of technology on culture, facilitation of social interaction with technology. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative culture is desired. Demonstrated ability to teach, advise and mentor students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated ability/willingness to create research and community involvement opportunities.
