PIONEERS WELL REPRESENTED ON CAL PAC WOMEN'S SOFTBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
The Pioneers were well represented on the Cal Pac Women's Softball All-Conference Team. Jesse Peterson was selected as the Co-Player of the Year. Peterson, along with Sam Sciutto, and Amanda Tietz were first team selections. Alyssa Johnson, Sarah Davini, and Mary Ogden received Honorable Mention Recognition. The Pioneer women's softball team concluded the regular season with a 13-25 record. Cal State East Bay finished 10-10 in Cal Pac Conference play. Jesse Peterson was named Cal Pac Conference Pitcher of the Week while Sam Sciutto was selected Softball Player of the Week for the dates of March 30-April 6. Alyssa Johnson led the Pioneers in hitting with a .313 batting average. Jesse Peterson hit .312 for the season. On the mound, Peterson was 9-11 with a 2.93 earned run average and 136 strikeouts in 134 innings. Amanda Tietz had a .273 batting average with team-highs 23 runs scored and five triples. Sarah Davini, with a .256 batting average, led the Pioneers with 14 stolen bases. Sam Sciutto posted team-bests of four home runs and 16 RBIs.
PIONEERS END REGULAR SEASON WITH DOUBLEHEADER DEFEAT TO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY
The Pioneers concluded the regular season on April 19 by losing a doubleheader to Dominican University 4-2 and 4-3. In the first game, Amanda Tietz and Mary Ogden each had a pair of hits and drove in a run. Pitcher Jesse Peterson went the distance allowing three earned runs with six strikeouts. In the second game, the Pioneers scored twice in the third inning to tie the contest 2-2. The Pioneers scored in the seventh inning and left the tieing run at second base. Alyssa Johnson was 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and RBI. Pitcher Kendra Mason allowed three earned runs with four strikeouts in six innings.
PIONEERS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER WITH CO-LEADER SIMPSON UNIVERSITY
The Pioneers split a doubleheader on April 17 with Cal Pac co-leader Simpson University losing the first game 7-1 while taking the second contest 8-7. In the first game, Alyssa Johnson was 2-for-2 with a run scored while pitcher Jesse Peterson recorded five strikeouts. In the second contest, Cal State East Bay scored seven runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a three-run double off the bat of Amanda Tietz. Pitcher Kendra Mason went the distance to pick up her fourth win of the season. Mason allowed four earned runs and recorded one strikeout.
PIONEERS SPILT DOUBLEHEADER WITH VISITING BETHANY UNIVERSITY
Cal State East Bay and Bethany University spilt a doubleheader on April 10. The Pioneers won the first game 2-1 while the Bruins took the second contest 9-2. In the opener, pitcher Kendra Mason won her third game of the season as she allowed one run on seven hits and two strikeouts in six innings. Jesse Peterson had two strikeouts in a scoreless seventh inning to pick up her first save of the season. Peterson and Davini each drove in a run. In the second game, Amanda Tietz had two hits including a triple and drove in a run. Kendra Mason hurled two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
