Tier II - Reading & Languages Arts Specialist Credential
The Specialist Credential requires 21 quarter units beyond the Certificate (a total of 44 quarter units). This credential licenses the successful candidate to provide staff development at the school, school district or county level; and play a consultative role in materials and program selection at the district or county level. |

Clinical instruction for students with literacy difficulties. Daily practice tutoring in clinical situation. Tier III - Master of Science Degree with An Option in Reading Instruction
The MS degree requires an additional 8 quarter units beyond the Specialist Credential (a total of 53 quarter units). With this option the successful candidate earns both a Reading Specialist Credential and a Master of Science Degree. |

Seminar in methods and procedures of research tools in education; sources and uses of data. Critical analysis of published research; preparation of a research project to include references, rationale, and outline. TED 5100 and course in statistics recommended. |
