Purpose
This is a community-based program with the goals of preparing highly qualified teachers who are committed to offering excellent instruction to K-12 students enrolled in Oakland schools.
Description
This Partnership Program is an alternative certification program leading to a Multiple Subject or a Single Subject Teaching Credential. It is offered cooperatively by the Department of Teacher Education at CSU-Hayward and the Oakland Unified School District (Oakland, CA). This credential preparation program extends through five quarters.
Both Multiple Subject and Single Subject credential candidates begin the program in the summer quarter. During the fall, winter and spring quarters, classes are offered at district sites in the evening hours. After successfully completing a subsequent summer quarter, the candidate is recommended for a Preliminary Credential.
Admission Requirements
Entrance requirements to the Oakland Partnership Program are the same as those for all of our teaching credential preparation programs.
